Hello all.
I am considering a tractor to keep some commercial property looking good and some box scrapper work. I am thinking about the L3130 or L3830 with industrial tires and 4wd. I am leaning towards the hydro transmission.
I know that the hydro has less pto power, thats why I am thinking about the L3830. Also with the industrial tires there is less difference in price ($1500 - $2000). Also the new interest rates sound real good.
As I understand I can use a 5 foot bushhog with the gear drive 3130's and would need to go smaller with the hydro 3130. But with the L3830 hydro I could possibly use a 6 foot bush hog.
I do not need a loader at this time since I have a bobcat loader, but would like a backhoe at a future date.
Any advice or oppions anyone has would be helpful.

I would think that a 3130 even with hydro. would have no problem with a 5' cutter. ....

Have had a l3010 hydro for two years and have heard that
a 5' bushhog should be no problem.I have a backhoe on mine and it's outstanding.
You should do fine with the 3010 now 3030.

I just took delivery of my 3130 this weekend and used the 6' bush hog on about three acres. My only problem was the top hitch of the hog was wider than the pin I had. The grass was last year's, wet, and really thick and I had no problem at all. I didnot even rev the tracor up to high speed - just took my time. ....

I have seen several posts on L3130's and L3830'S but none regarding the L3430. Is there something wrong with this model? Or, is it unpopular for some reason? I tested an L3430GST(4WD), R4 tires,and LA513 loader this afternoon and found it to be an amazing machine. The price $18300. Is this a god price? I was trying to decide between a TC30 and a JD790, but now have three to choose from. I don't really need this much machine, however right now I'm going back through as many posts as I can find regarding these three tractors and will make my decision by morning. JD, NH and Kubota are all offering 0% 36 month financing (I wish only one of them was offering this then my decision would be easier). Any comments or suggestions appreciated. By the way, while at the JD dealer for yet another test of the 790 (for the third time) I also tested a 4310 HST(well sort of). My wife backed it up and started to go back forward when all of a sudden - no drive. The salesman shut off the engine and said to try it again - same thing - no drive. We left it right where it quit and got back on the 790. ....

I am curious as you are comparing economy tractors and top end tractors with the models you mention. I don't know what type of grass you have there but the 3130 hydro will definitly work for the horsepower. If you read more posts here you will find that a hydro will normally out mow a gear drive tractor given horsepowers are about the same. A 5' bush hog is fine but be sure to get some front counter weight. Interesting enough I like to see what other dealers do and check out different sales men and the way they sell. Had one do the same thing to me on a B-series Kubota. Just before I got on to drive it he moved the hydro range lever just about to neutral but not quite. As soon as I was driving it a little it did pop out. I was told that Kubota was having a lot of trouble with there hydro's. The deere's we test drove that day for some reason all performed perfectly. He wouldn't let us play with the 110 tlb. ....

I have the L2500 gear drive with a 5' bush hog and have no problems mowing with it. I cut trails on 30 acres and mow fields in the Tennessee hills. I was under the impression the hydros robbed a lot of horsepower. ....
